Bottling local stories and folklore from the heartlands of Victoria, Australia, Kinglake is a family-run whisky distillery located close to the Yarra Valley, on O'Gradys road in Kinglake Central. Founded in 2018 by Chantal Daniels.
Your presenter Chantal grew up in Kinglake, when not helping out on the family flower farm, she was always found mountain biking in the bush and ended up competing nationally. After a Master’s in Applied Science, she travelled the world, working hospitality. She brought two things back to Kinglake, a passion for single malt and a husband happy to help build a family business. Chantal’s aim is to found a distillery that’s about the whisky and nothing else.
Their 2500 litre Knapp Lewer still tames 4 different strains of barley - 80% of which is sourced from NSW - into Kinglake single malt whisky. Their off-grid whisky distillery was specially designed to take advantage of its rural location. Eucalypt-dominated vegetation disperses fine drops of volatile oil into the atmosphere, oil drops that increase the risk of fire, perfume the air, and scatter the blue light rays of the spectrum. Their ferments are long, and their washbacks are left open to the local pollens and yeasts. Their typography references the hand-made labour of running a farm: the punch holes in machinery, the nailing of a post, and welding metal. Chantal Daniels describes their craft as "No bullshit, just really good handmade Australian single malt, rooted in Kinglake."

How do I change my booking date?
We'll be happy to change your booking date provided you contact us more than 14 days prior to your original booking date. To change your booking date, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information and our team will contact you within 5 business days:
~ Booking reference (beginning with 'R')
~ Booking name (not attendees name)
~ New class dates (see 'Whisky Classes' via our website for a list of available dates)
~ please note, change of dates are available for classes only, not events. Most events are not repeated and therefore are unable to be changed.
No returns, refunds, cancellations or exchanges on any tickets or tasting packs. If you're unable to attend a class or event, we recommend nominating a friend or family member to take your place! No notification is required for change of attendees name, simply quote the booking name on arrival.
Last minute cancellation due to exceptional circumstances
We understand that unexpected events can pop up at the last minute. In the case you are unable to make a class or event and are unable to give 14 days notice prior to your original booking date, please follow the details below:
~ Illness: In the case that the participant is unable to attend due to an illness, please email a medical certificate and your booking reference (beginning with ‘R’) to email@example.com by no later than 12pm on the day of your class or event booking. Our team will be in touch within 5 working days. All booking cancellations in the case of illness will be offered a full refund or change of booking date minus booking fees and administration fee of $15 per person.
~ Family emergency: In the case of a family emergency, please email your booking reference (beginning with ‘R’) and emergency details to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 12pm on the day of your class or event booking. All booking cancellations in the case of a family emergency will be offered a full refund minus booking fees and administration fee of $15 per person.
~ Government enforced lockdown or isolation directive: In the case that the participant has been ordered into a government enforced lockdown or self isolation we are here to work with you.
a) In the case that your class or event date falls on a day of government enforced lockdown for the Victorian region, our events team will contact you as quickly as possible following the lockdown announcement. Effected participants will have the option to change their booking date to a future class or event date, or be issued with a cash voucher that can be used to book a future class, event, or at the bar and bottle shop (not available for online bottle shop purchases).
b) In the case that the class participant has been ordered into self isolation by order of the Victorian Government, please email email@example.com with details and our team will do their best to respond within 48 standard business hours. Effected participants will have the option to change their booking date to a future class or event date, or be issued with a cash voucher that can be used to book a future class, event, or at the bar and bottle shop (not available for online bottle shop purchases).
All participants must be over the legal age of 18 years in order to participate and consume alcohol.
Please note that the tasting room is located on level 1 and accessible only via a single staircase. If you are unable to climb stairs, it may be possible to move the tasting to a wheelchair accessible venue located on the ground level. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm if disabled access is available before booking.
By purchasing a ticket to an event, you acknowledge that the event may be filmed or photographed and give consent for the film or photographs to be published on any platform by Whisky & Alement or by any other entity used for promotion. Films and photographs may be used occasionally for other marketing purposes.
