As a result of the mid-1960's, US fuelled whisky-boom, GlenAllachie was designed by William Delma-Evans - the same architect behind Macduff, Tullibardine and Jura - and in 1967, the distillery was built by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries’ distilling subsidiary, Mackinlays.
The first official GlenAllachie bottling, a 16 Year-Old cask strength expression, didn't reach the public until 2005, and it wasn't until 2018, just last year, that we saw the release of GlenAllachies inaugural core range. Lightness is a characteristic of most of the 1960s distilleries, and Glenallachie was no exception. However, under the new ownership of the GlenAllachie Distillery Company, fermentation times have been lengthened, lending the spirit a fruitier, and more muscular quality.
