The Isle of Raasay might be one of the smallest islands in the hebrides off Scotland's west coast but it is certainly no less idyllic. At only 14 miles long and 3 miles wide the island boasts one of the most geologically diverse landscapes in the world. With rolling native forests, panoramic views across islands and secluded beaches this tiny place is full of potential adventures. We get the feeling that exploring Raasay could feel similar to what it was like to explore Islay or Skye 30 years ago. Less tourists, warm hospitality from the locals and a slower less commercialised feel.
We are very lucky that on their way to Dramfest in New Zealand, the team from Isle of Raasay distillery have made a stop in Melbourne to share with us the wonderful whiskies which help support the economy of a small yet mighty island.
