Virtual: Ardnamurchan x Whisky & Alement, Single Cask Launch with Alex Bruce and Connal Mackenzie
- Duration: 90 Minutes (approx.)
- Product code: PBRC1D
Join Alex Bruce (Managing Director of Adelphi), Connal Mackenzie (Ardnamurchan Group Sales Manager), importer Ben Baranow, and W&A Events Manager Miranda Lidgerwood virtually on September 29 as we celebrate the launch of Whisky & Alements exclusive Ardnamurchan single cask!
Back in 2014, the Highlands received a new addition to the distilling landscape in Ardnamurchan distillery. Opened by independent bottler Adelphi and backed with heavy involvement from Charles MacLean + many more industry giants, to say they are off to a flying start is an understatement, their first release of 1200 bottles sold out in two hours.
With a huge focus on sustainability, a hydro-electic generator in the river provides Ardnamurchans cooling water while also generating all the power required. A biomass boiler using wood chips from a local forest provides all the hot water, the draff (spent grain) heads to local herds, and the pot ale fertilises the fields. They create two types of spirit - peated and unpeated. Both of these use barley grown on the estate of one of the owners.
Board member and Managing Director, Alex Bruce describes the rationale behind constructing a new Adelphi Distillery to WhiskyMag, noting that, "Having built a strong reputation and distribution globally for our whiskies, we wanted to augment our position by producing our own single malt; by 2007, we were already very aware that demand was growing and supply restricting, and producing our own would not only provide us with greater volumes in the future, but also potentially allow us to trade casks with other distilleries and brokers"
It feels like a lifetime ago that Whisky & Alement set out to select our very own Ardnamurchan single cask to be bottled exclusively for the bar, and it has finally landed! We can't wait for you to try it, in all of its peated, grain-forward glory.
