Masam SRL 2020 Collection Preview Tasting

For years, Whisky & Alement co-founder Julian White been silently importing incredible whiskies via our importing arm, Indie Whisky Co. largely sought after - almost inaccessible! - and, at times, the only bottles in Australia. The lions share of Indie Whisky Co. imports have been them.

Settle in at home with 5 x 15ml pours, selected by the late, great Silvano. Be guided by Julian White of Indie Whisky Co and Whisky & Alement, as we are incredibly proud to share Samaroli's legacy with you. By the grace of his life-partner Maryse, Silvano's independent bottlings have continued, as Maryse bottles casks from Samaroli's archive under the combined name: Masam Srl. MASAM is the abbreviation of Maryse and Samaroli. The MA from Maryse and the SAM from Samaroli. 

In 1968, Silvano founded a Wine and Spirits Merchants in Rome, Italy, which would go on to become the first non-Scottish and non-English independent Scotch whisky bottler, Silvano, soon becoming one of the most legendary figures in the world of whisky, as he spread his love of spirits and wine world-wide. Maryse and Silvano lived a very close relationship for 40 years. Together in 2008 they sold their brand to the Bleve family who they’d been in business with for years. In early 2016, Silvano was itching to continue his pursuit in creating "the best whisky in Scotland” and the Masam brand was created. Sadly, Silvano passed away in late 2016 leaving Maryse to continue the legacy of one of the greatest Indie bottlers ever. The devastation felt by the industry was immeasurable, but we continue to celebrate him in every glass we pour.
