Meaning ‘the original’ in Gaelic, A’bunadh is made in homage to Aberlour’s founder, James Fleming. Each batch of A'Bunadh is distilled at Aberlour Distillery and created to meet a benchmark that ensures rich and complex flavour. Bottled at cask strength, the A'Bunadh is one seriously robust and deeply intense, sherried single malt whisky.

The story of A'Bunadh goes, when the second pair of stills were installed in 1975, a time capsule was discovered behind the name plate containing an 1898 bottle of Aberlour, wrapped around an 1898 newspaper about the Aberlour distillery fire. The workmen who discovered the bottle polished off four-fifths during their lunch break, but the remains of the bottle was sent to the laboratories in Keith, Moray, to be analysed. The Aberlour A'Bunadh is an attempt to recreate this very same single malt!

Reigning champion of the 2019 International Wine & Spirits Competition. 23 years and 67 batches, yet just as relevant today as the day it debuted back in 1997. Aberlour A'Bunadh has stood the test of time.


Flavour profile of The Aberlour A'Bunadh:

By design, this whisky is a belter. Moist raisin and homemade fruit cake encompass the glass.

Nose: Aromas of mixed spices, praline and spiced orange harmonising with rich, deep notes of Oloroso Sherry.

Palate: Orange, black cherries, dried fruit and ginger spiked with dark bitter chocolate and enriched with Sherry and Oak. Full-bodied and creamy.

Finish: Bitter-sweet notes of exotic spices, dark chocolate and oak.
